Show Me Your Kitties — Delete Your Account

Option 1: Delete From Within the App (Recommended)

The fastest way to delete your account is directly from the app:

  1. Open Show Me Your Kitties on your device
  2. Tap the Profile tab, then the gear (Settings) icon, top right
  3. Scroll to the Danger Zone and tap “Delete account”
  4. Review what will be removed, then type DELETE in the confirmation field
  5. Confirm. Your account is deactivated immediately and enters a 7-day grace period

During the 7-day grace period your account is hidden and inactive. If you change your mind, simply sign back in within 7 days to restore it. After 7 days, everything below is permanently and irreversibly deleted:

  • All of your posts and the photos attached to them
  • All of your cat profiles and their photos (name, breed, age, adoption story)
  • Your profile photo, display name, username, and bio
  • Your likes, follows, followers, and saved posts
  • Your notifications and activity history
  • Your Firebase authentication account

Your comments on other people’s posts are anonymized — the conversation stays intact, but nothing remains that identifies you.

This action cannot be undone once the grace period ends. After 7 days, your data cannot be recovered.

Note: If you only ever used the app as a guest without signing in, you have no published content; uninstalling the app is all that’s needed, though you may still request removal of your anonymous account below.

Option 2: Request Deletion by Email

If you no longer have access to the app or can’t delete your account from within it, request deletion by email. We will process your request within 30 days.

What Happens After Deletion

  • All personal data is removed from our servers after the 7-day grace period (in-app) or within 30 days (email request), including photos held in secure cloud storage
  • Your public comments are anonymized so conversations remain readable without identifying you
  • You can reinstall the app and create a new account at any time
