This Privacy Policy describes how Ali3N Studios LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the Show Me Your Kitties mobile application (“SMYK” or the “App”). This policy supplements our general Ali3N Studios Privacy Policy.
Show Me Your Kitties is a photo-sharing social app exclusively for cats. We do not sell your data, we do not show ads, and we do not share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. You can browse as a guest without an account, and you can delete your account and all your content at any time.
1. Data We Collect
Authentication Data
The App uses Firebase Authentication. You may browse as an anonymous guest, or create an account with email/password or Google Sign-In. When you sign in, we receive your email address (for email or Google sign-in), your name where provided, and a unique user ID. This is used for account management and to associate your content with your account. Guests receive an anonymous user ID and can browse, but cannot post, like, comment, or follow.
Your Profile and Cats
Information you add to your profile (username, display name, bio, profile photo) and to each cat’s profile (name, breed, age, adoption story, and whether the cat was adopted from a shelter or rescue) is stored so it can be shown in the App.
Photos
Photos you post, your profile photo, and your cats’ photos are uploaded to secure cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) and displayed to other users as part of the social feed. Every photo is checked by automated moderation before it becomes visible (see Section 2).
Posts, Captions, and Comments
Captions, comments, and hashtags you write are stored so they can be shown with your posts and in search. Because SMYK is a public social app, the posts, captions, comments, cats, and profile details you create are visible to other users.
Social Activity
Your likes, follows, followers, saved posts, and the resulting activity notifications are stored to power your feed, your profile counts, and the Activity tab.
Notifications
If you enable push notifications, we store a device push token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) to send you alerts about likes, comments, follows, and new posts from accounts you follow. You can turn push notifications off at any time in Settings or your device settings.
Analytics and Diagnostics
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand aggregate feature usage and to diagnose crashes and performance issues. These tools may collect standard device and usage identifiers and diagnostic information. This data is used only to operate and improve the App. It is not used for advertising, and it is never sold or shared with data brokers.
2. Content Moderation and AI Features
When you post a photo, it is sent to our secure server endpoint (api.ali3nstudios.com), which runs automated image moderation (AWS Rekognition and, where needed, Anthropic Claude vision via AWS Bedrock) to confirm the photo is a cat and does not contain disallowed content. Photos that fail moderation are rejected and removed. Posts remain hidden until moderation approves them.
The optional “suggest a caption” feature sends only your cat’s breed and name (never your photo, and never your identity) to the same secure endpoint to generate a short caption using a large language model (Anthropic Claude via AWS Bedrock). This data is processed only to generate your caption; it is not used to train AI models and is not retained by the model provider for advertising.
3. Community Safety Tools
SMYK gives you tools to control your experience. You can report any post, comment, or user; block users so their posts and comments are hidden from you; and hide individual posts you’re not interested in. We review reports and remove content and accounts that violate our guidelines.
4. What We Do Not Collect
- No location tracking — the App does not request device location. An optional post “city” is text you type yourself, if you choose to.
- No ads and no ad networks — we show no advertising and use no advertising SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of personal data with data brokers or advertisers.
- No access to your contacts, calendar, microphone, phone number, or financial information.
5. Storage & Security
Account and content records are stored in Google Firebase (Authentication and Firestore) under security rules that restrict access to the appropriate user. Photos are stored in Cloudflare R2. Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS/TLS).
6. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain your data until you delete it. You can delete your account and all associated content at any time from Settings, or by request. Deletion runs on a 7-day grace period (so you can restore by signing back in), after which your posts, cats, photos, likes, follows, and account are permanently removed and your comments on other posts are anonymized. 7. Your Choices and Rights
- Edit or delete your profile, posts, cats, and comments at any time in the app;
- Manage notifications and privacy settings in Settings;
- Block users to hide their content from your feeds.
Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing.
Requesting a copy of your data
A self-service export isn’t available yet. To request a copy of your data, email support@ali3nstudios.com and we will fulfill verified requests within 30 days.
8. Children
Show Me Your Kitties is intended for users aged 13 and older and is not directed to children under 13. It is a social app with user-generated content and is not enrolled in Google Play’s Designed for Families program.
9. Shelter and Rescue Organizations
This section describes how we handle information for organizations with shelter accounts. It supplements the rest of this Privacy Policy.
What we collect from shelters
When you apply: organization name, contact email, physical address, website, adoption-process link, a description of your organization, and your EIN or tax identification number if you provide one.
While you use SMYK: the listings you create — animal names, photographs, descriptions, location — plus account activity and the usual technical information described elsewhere in this policy.
What becomes public
Some of what you provide is published on the open web. Public:
- Organization name and description;
- City and state;
- Your website and adoption-process links, and your donation link if you add one;
- All approved animal listings, including photographs and descriptions;
- Verified Shelter status.
Not public:
- Your EIN or tax identification number;
- Operator email addresses and login details;
- Your full street address, unless you include it in text you publish yourself;
- Application details, internal notes, and review decisions;
- Your listing statistics.
How we use your EIN
If you provide an EIN, we use it only to help confirm your organization’s identity when reviewing your application. We do not display it publicly and we do not share it with third parties. Providing one is optional, and we recognize that many municipal shelters and informal rescues do not have one.
Public web pages
When your listings are approved, we automatically generate public web pages for your organization and each animal. These pages are:
- Accessible to anyone, without an account;
- Available to search engines for indexing;
- Shareable by anyone who has the link;
- Sometimes retained after an animal is adopted, showing that outcome.
Because these pages are public and may be cached, indexed, or shared by others, we cannot guarantee that all copies disappear when you remove a listing.
Please do not include personal information in listing text — a foster’s home address, a volunteer’s phone number, or anything else you would not want publicly visible.
Photographs
Photographs you upload are stored on our infrastructure and displayed publicly.
We remove embedded metadata — including GPS location data — from uploaded images. Photographs taken on a phone often record where they were taken, which can reveal a foster’s or volunteer’s home address. We strip this before publishing.
Statistics we collect
We count page views on your public pages and taps on outbound links — “How to adopt,” and your donation link if you have one.
These are aggregate counts, not individual tracking, and we show them only to you and to SMYK administrators. They are never displayed publicly.
These are traffic measurements, not outcomes. A tap on a donation link is not a donation, and a page view is not an adopter. We cannot see what happens after someone leaves SMYK.
Email we send you
Operational email — approval decisions, account activation, requests for information — is required while you hold a shelter account.
A periodic activity summary is optional, includes a one-click unsubscribe, and unsubscribing from it does not affect operational email.
Retention
We keep your application and account information while your shelter account is active, and for a reasonable period afterward for our records.
When you delete a listing, we remove it from public view and delete its images from our storage. Copies may persist temporarily in backups, and content that has been shared, cached, or indexed elsewhere is outside our control.
You can request removal of your organization’s information by emailing hello@showmeyourkitties.app.
10. Changes
We may update this Policy. If we make material changes, we’ll notify you in the app and update the date above.
